The Creative Cafe was a pilot project at Stonegrove Community Trust initiated by Nikki Hafter whilst she was both Older Peoples’ Projects Coordinator and Free Play project lead. She repeatedly heard from older people about thier wish not to be ‘siloed’ from the rest of society, and their desires to be feel useful and spend time with younger people. Meanwhile, there was an opportunity to try out a different type of creative play to the weekly after-school sessions for under 8s. Nikki found that under 8s and over 60s connected over opportunities to draw and talk about nature, food, family and games.
